Pest & Insect Monitoring Equipment

Light traps and forecasting units that catch and log flying insects, so Saudi farms and plant protection teams see outbreaks coming and spray only when it is needed.

Pest & Insect Monitoring Equipment

Spot crop pests before they spread

Monitoring traps use light to draw in flying insects and then record the catch, revealing which pests are active, how many there are and the point at which their numbers start to climb. In Saudi Arabia, this information serves plant protection departments, agricultural research centres, extension services, universities and large farms for surveillance, forecasting and integrated pest management (IPM). Basic trapping lamps and solar-powered units lower pest pressure in orchards, date palm plantations and open fields. Automatic forecast traps go further by separating and drying the insects they collect, and camera models send photographs so the catch can be identified and counted remotely. EnmaTech supplies, installs and maintains this equipment locally and helps design regional surveillance networks.

Spray at the right time

Trap counts reveal the moment a pest population passes its action threshold, so treatment follows real pest pressure instead of a fixed spraying calendar.

Use fewer pesticides

Physical trapping and killing bring pest numbers down without chemicals, which supports IPM programs, helps keep produce free of residues and spares beneficial insects.

Region-wide surveillance

A network of forecast traps across a region shows how pests are moving, helping Saudi authorities detect invasive species early and coordinate a joint response.

Monitoring from a distance

Camera traps photograph every catch and send the images, so specialists can identify and count insects without driving out to each trap.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a light trap control pests by itself?

Light traps lower the numbers of night-flying insects and are a useful part of IPM, but they are not a substitute for sound agronomy, resistant varieties and targeted treatment. In many cases, the monitoring data they produce is worth more than the insects they remove.

Do the traps work without a mains power supply?

Yes. Solar lamps charge their batteries in daylight and switch on automatically after dark, which suits orchards, remote fields and other sites with no electricity.

How does a forecast light trap differ from a simple trap?

A forecast trap does the routine work automatically: it attracts, kills, separates and dries insects on a set schedule. Camera models also photograph the catch, so species and counts are recorded without a daily visit to the site.
